Comprising the regions of Taravo and Sartenais, the VALINCO region is in the south-west of Corsica. From the high mountainous valley to the plain of Lower Taravo overlooking the Gulf of Valinco, the landscape varies according to the altitude and distance from the sea.
The region has beautiful, lush, cool valleys planted with oak, olive, chestnut and arbutus trees. There are numerous hot springs, superb beaches and a multitude of activities including rock climbing, fishing, horse riding and excursions.
Further to the south Sartène, the most Corsican of the island’s towns, overlooks the RIZZANESE and BARACCI basins, the Gulf of VALINCO ringed by Genoese towers, and the seaside resort of Propriano. The surrounding area has wonderful, old villages with unusual architecture halfway up slopes of centuries old olive groves, overlooking the sea and mountains.
